Carlow lost out to Antrim last weekend in The Joe McDonagh Cup after a ferocious battle in Corrigan Park.
Only a goal separated the teams with the scoreboard reading 2-22 to 1-22 at full time, stark contrast to their defeat against Meath the week prior.
Their manager Tom Mullaly is proud of his players but indicated they are no longer content with morale victories; speaking to Scoreline he said ;
“They are disappointed and rightly so, that is what we expect. We are well aware of the challenges coming down the road.”
“We are glad for the two-week break. We know Down coming to town will be a massive, massive challenge for us. If we can navigate that one and get the result we want. Then we can be where we want to be on the final round of the Joe Mac.”
