Eire Og and Old Leighlin set up Division 1 Football Final in Carlow

Eire Og and Old Leighlin will contest the Senior Football League Div 1final after wins over Rathvilly and O’Hanrahans yesterday evening.

In the first semi-final Eire Og with two first half goals led Rathvilly by 2-6 to 0-10 at the break. Thirty seconds in to the last period and a Rathvilly goal put them in the driving seat. However Eire Og raised their game and two further goals gave them an eight point win.

The second semi-final took pride of place with Old Leighlin and O’Hanrahans serving up a thriller, Old Leighlin led by 0-8 to 0-6 at half time.

A minute in to the last period a Daryl Hayden goal gave O’Hanrahans the lead and from there to the end the teams served up top class football with Old Leighlin grabbing the equalizer in the dying seconds to send the game to extra time.

Old Leighlin led by 0-18 to 2-10 at the end of the first period and the men from North West Carlow held on to clinch a one point win, in a game that produced thirty-seven scores.

Final Score after extra time, Old Leighlin 0-21, O’Hanrahans 2-14

The Div 1 final is on Sunday June 5th in Netwatch Cullen Park at 7-00pm

Elsewhere

In Division 2 last night, Railyard defeated Ballinabranna 2-13 to 13 points while Clonmore defeated the Fighting Cocks 3-12 to 2-12.

Naomh Eoin and Mt. Leinster Rngs meet in the Kilkenny Hurling league semi-final in Myshall this Monday evening at 7-15pm

Erins Own of Bagenalstown are the new Leinster League Division 2 Hurling champions.

The Carlow side beat Bray Emmetts by 2-18 to 12 points on Saturday at Abbotstown.
