Eire Og have done the three in row after they were crowned senior football county champions following a 1-16 to 5 points win over Palatine.
Brendan Kavanagh was man of the match and he told KCLR Sport that they got the job done.
He said “It was a big game for us, we knew coming into the game, (there was) kind of a little bit of pressure for the three in a row, but we always took it as another game, and we prepared in that way but it’s great now that its over, you know we won easy enough in the end, we knew Pal were going to put up a great effort but we got the job done in the end”.
Meanwhile Bagenalstown Gaels beat Eire Og to claim the minor title
Chairman George Darcy says its brilliant to win it in their first year in existence and they’ve hurling to look forward to now.
He said “This is very important this cup, this football cup coming to town, I think the last time I had my hands on this (cup) was in the 80’s sometime, but more importantly this is the flagship for our club, a dual club, so many of these players will be back in the county hurling final in two weeks time, and that is so important to our club”.
