The Leinster Minor Club Football tournament which is run by the Eire Og Club in Carlow hosts its final this weekend.
Naas take on Clontarf this Friday at 8.15.
Co-Ordinator John Kearns says the tournament follows the idea of an equivalent tournament played in Northern Ireland,
He says the tournament gets a good response from counties within the province……..
“We kind of follow the idea from St. Pauls who run the equivalent up North in Ulster”
“They always have the Semi-Finals on Stephens Day and the finals always on New Years Day”
“Most other counties are finished in September/October so it wouldn’t be fair to ask teams hanging on and wait that long so we always try and get it going pretty much as soon as the County titles are won, and of course what we try and do as well is get it over with before the Schools football kicks in which is actually kicking off next week, so that’s why we are glad to have the finals on this weekend”
