Willie Mullins says that Energumene has such high potential that next year’s Cheltenham Festival in 2021 is a realistic target.

Energumene eased to a comprehensive victory on his hurdling debut in Gowran Park last Saturday, and speaking to KCLR after the Race, Willie says that he is a top class Novice Chaser in the making.

He said “He was very good to jump, when he was going too slow, he just put the quick ones in and popped out over the hurdles, but once he was up at racing speed then he stood back and winged them like a good horse should, and if he can do that next season when he goes Novice Racing, that’s what we are really looking forward to, he is a big chaser in the making”.

“I will give him a run between now and Punchestown and then go back to Punchestown and then put him out to grass and we will have a nice Novice Chaser this time for next year, we might be loading him up this time year to go one the boat to Cheltenham”.
