Steve Lennon is back on the European championship dart scene this summer.
By his own admission, it’s the “first time to have qualified for European tour events in quite some time so it will be nice to be back.”
The Carlow native has been in Wigan, UK, for the past few days, his performances on the stage on Monday earning him a place at the PDC Jack’s Dutch Darts Championship in Zwolle, Netherlands from 27 May along with the 2022 Interwetten European Darts Matchplay at the Trier Arena, Trier, Germany from 1 July. A field of 48 players will take to the stage in that one with the winner set to pocked £25,000 in prize money.
The European Tour 2022 comprises thirteen events, which will be held in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Gibraltar.
Each event is donated with £140,000 (approx. EUR 160,000), with the prize money going into the European Order of Merit. The 32 best players in this ranking after the thirteen European Tour events qualify for the European Championship, which will take place at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund in 2022.
