Gaelic Bingo, the new Carlow GAA fundraiser for clubs and county, went live last Thursday night with over 600 players involved across Ireland and abroad.
Seen as one of the major sources of fundraising for Carlow clubs for the 2023 season, the night involves a virtual bingo, presented by KCLR and Scoreline.ie’s Brendan Hennessy, large cash prizes to be won each week. Thursday night’s opening night saw 30 winners take away a total of €3,700 in prizemoney with Carlow GAA clubs making almost €2,500 between them – a potential of €130,000 annually at the current rate of take up.
Clubs make money by association with the buyer i.e. when a book a bought, the buyer lists either their own club or a nominated club as part of the checkout process, with 40% of the sale proceeds going back to the club chosen.
Now, based on feedback received from those playing on the night (and those unable to play), and to avoid clashing with a number of other big bingo games in the area, Gaelic Bingo will be moving to Wednesday nights with the next game taking place this Wednesday 16 November.
The time remains at 8pm with books available online via gaelicbingo.ie. The game is open to anyone over the age of 18 and you do not have to be connected to a club to take part.
