Monday saw the draws made for the newly-named Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Camogie Championships with Kilkenny’s seniors and intermediates and Carlow’s intermediates all learning their groupings for the summer.
You can check the full breakdown of the draw here.
Ahead of the release of this week’s edition of the Camán Caint camogie podcast, KCLR analyst Áine Fahey was very clear on who she thinks is coming out of the senior championship groups.
“Cork, Tipperary and Wexford and I think Galway, Kilkenny and Antrim will come out of the group”, she tells the podcast.
“I think Cork will potentially top Group 1. I would love to know if it’s a home or away game between Kilkenny and Galway.”
“That’s going to be a massive influence on who’s going to top that group. If Kilkenny have to travel to Galway, I think Galway will top the group, but I think if Kilkenny can get Galway at home, Kilkenny will top the group.”
“If there’s any way at all we could get a home venue against Galway, it would be great.”
“I don’t think that Wexford will break into the top four but I do think they’ll be contending in a quarter-final anyway”
You can catch the latest edition of Camán Caint, including a full chat about Monday’s championship draw, the new title sponsor for the championships and a chat with Kilkenny U16 manager Jim Smith following their win over Dublin in the Leinster Championship at the weekend online tonight from 9pm.
