Kilkenny CBS and St Kierans College

Kilkenny CBS manager Matthew Ruth says the fact that a lot of the players play together with their local clubs makes Sundays Leinster Colleges Final against city neighbours St. Kierans all the more exciting.

Speaking to KCLR, Matthew says that nerves can be a factor when there’s a a lot at stake……

“All the players would mix very well outside of schools hurling with the clubs and county, and there is a nice mix there now and there is plenty of lads who would have played against each other now that might have grown up together in Primary School and that’s just the way it is but that makes it all the more exciting. Sometimes, they are cagey yeah.

“Again, maybe it is because they know each other so well but there is a lot on the line as well and sometimes they would be nervous so it’s hard to know what to put it down to, but sometimes they are very cagey affairs and we don’t know what next weeks match will be like but we know it will be tough”
