The GAA springs up all kinds of unique moments, with some bordering along the lines of lunacy!
We have seen Brian Hogan marking his brother Keith in a club game between O’Loughlin Gaels on a few occasions and that in itself is rare enough.
But have you ever heard of two brothers who played against each other in a club game featuring teams from two different counties?!
Well that very thing happened in a Paddy Cahill Cup clash on Saturday evening when Brothers Eddie and James Kane lined out against each other at The Superbowl (which in itself is a fairly unique name for a venue!)
Both lads hurled together for Naomh Brid in Carlow up until last year, but this year James decided to give it a lash with Barrow Rangers just across the border into Kilkenny.
But little did he think that he would be back in his old stomping ground so quickly, and he and his teammates weren’t showing any regard for side stories with the Paulstown lads winning by 4-17 to 1-10.
Unfortunately for Eddie he had to retire with an injury just after the break but they weren’t a million miles away from each other in the first half with James playing in attack, while younger brother Eddie tried to man the defence.
There will many more twists and turns in the GAA over the coming season in both Carlow & Kilkenny but you will go a long way before you find a more bizarre story than this one!
