Fenagh have been crowned Talbot Hotel Carlow Intermediate Football champions following an excellent 3-17 to 1-11 win against Naomh Eoin on Saturday evening.
It was a close encounter for large spells in the first half as Fenagh led by four points as the game approached half-time.
The key moments came on the stroke of the interval, however, as midfielder Keagan Bradley found the back of the net and Jack Treacy kicked a long-range point to give Fenagh a 1-10 to 0-05 advantage at the break.
Paul Kenny’s side never looked back after that, as they dominated a largely one-sided second half.
Dylan Bradley got their second goal of the game midway through the second period and a second goal from the corner forward wrapped up the result on a memorable day for the club in front of a large crowd at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Naomh Eoin never submitted to their opponents’ superiority and scored a consolation goal of their own towards the end of the proceedings, but it was one step too far for Robbie Foley’s men despite a valiant effort.
Elsewhere, Clonmore and Leighlinbridge will have to do it all over again in their attempts to become junior champions after the sides could not be separated in the first of today’s games at Carlow GAA Headquarters.
It was a low-scoring and largely uneventful affair throughout as a late point from Leighlinbridge secured a replay.
