Rally of the Lakes 2022

The Rally of the Lakes is getting into gear for the upcoming event taking place over the May Bank holiday weekend (April 29th, 30th & May 1st), hosted by Killarney and District Motor Club.

In the main field, you have Eddie Doherty from Kilkenny with Cathal Nolan the navigator in his Ford Escort Mk2, Enda O’Brien in his VW Polo GTI Rs with John Butler, Joe Connolly in the Hyundai i20 Rs with Brian Connolly, and Richie Dalton in a Subaru Impreza N11 with Ger Brett.

From Carlow, you have Gavin Sheill in the Ford Fiesta ST with Ken Blanche.

The rally will roll into town on Friday (April 29) at 7 pm, with a ceremonial start on Main Street.

After the run on classic East Kerry stages Kilsarcon, Banard, and Gortnagane on Saturday morning, crews will return to service in Liebherr container cranes to ensure the cars are ready for the same loop stages later in the afternoon.

Sunday starts early with the iconic Molls Gap, Ireland’s most famous rally stage, followed by the challenging Ballaghbeama test. In these two stages, the competitors will test themselves once again after a trip into service.

In the final stages of the rally, the fast-flowing Shanera and Caragh Lake stages are run twice to determine the winner of the 2022 International Rally of the Lakes.

A ceremonial finish ramp at 6 pm at Rally HQ will give the winning competitors a chance to celebrate victory with the spectators before the trophies will be presented at the prizegiving ceremony Sunday night.
