Former Carlow Senior Footballer Willie Quinlan Carlow will need to re-produce their performance from last years Leinster Championship victory over Kildare if they are to cause another upset tomorrow (Saturday) against Meath.
Speaking to KCLR, Willie says that Meath will benefit from the advantage of their Championship victory over Offaly.
He said “Meath seem to be going the right direction. They are in Division One, Carlow went back to Division 4 but they didn’t have a very convincing first game against Offaly winning by two points but that game will probably stand to them, they needed a game maybe under their belt and they will be overall favorites going into the game”.
“Kildare played Carlow last year in Tullamore and Kildare were overall favorites and Carlow turned them over and ended up winning by 7 points and they are going to need to get to somewhere to that performance to do the same on Saturday”.
Willie says the biggest for test for the group of players will be to get Promoted from Division 4 again.
Willie told KCLR that even though he feels the clash against Meath will be a tough challenge, Willie says the long-term objective of promotion will be the priority.
“I don’t think it’s the biggest. I think the biggest test is going to be actually next year in Division 4 to see if we can get back to the Football that we have been playing and get out of Division 4 and back into Division 3, I think that’s probably our biggest test that lies ahead although it is a test on Saturday, I don’t think it will be our biggest”.
