Former Freebooters man Succes Edogun was part of the St.Patricks Athletic side who have been crowned the SSE Airtricity U-19 league champions last night.
A controversial extra-time penalty from Darragh Burns with two minutes to go, saw St. Pat’s beat their Dublin rivals at UCD Bowl to win the SSE Airtricity National Under-19 League final.
Kyle Robinson scored in the first half, while Bohemians got their equalizer in the second. Success came onto the field with 20 minutes of normal time remaining to replace Kian Corbally as the game was a draw.
As normal time ticked over, extra time was needed to separate the two sides. That even looked like the extra time would not be enough and many thought the game would be decided on penalties. Ultimately it was, but not via a shoot-out. Ben McCormack was deemed to be fouled in the box before Darragh Burns converted the spot-kick to secure the title.

We reached out to his former manager with Freebooters Seanie Doyle to give us a run down on the career trajectory of Success so far. Speaking with KCLR Doyle said
“Success played with Freebooters’s from mini academy to 2018, he won all local honors up to u19, scoring roughly on average about 25-30 goals per season! At the age of 16, he played with our A team and scored two goals against St Kevin’s in the youths cup final 2018.”
“He went to Bolton on trial from ‘booters were he was very unlucky not secure a contract as they went into administration. From there he won the Airtricty u19 with Waterford United before moving to St Pats and again winning his second u19 title! We at Freebooters are incredibly proud of him and wish him nothing but the best going forward”
Elsewhere Sligo Rovers beat U.C.D 5-3 at the Athlone Town Stadium to win the Under-19 League Shield final.
