Former Kilkenny City manager Billy Walsh says that he hopes Thomastown United have better fortune than they did while he was playing when they play Shamrock Rovers in the next round of the Leinster Senior Cup.
Speaking to KCLR on last nights “The way it is”, Billy who played with Evergreen says it’s a tremendous draw for the club…..
“We played Shamrock Rovers with Evergreen in the Leinster Senior Cup and it was an away tie as well and I hope Thomastown don’t have the problems we have as it took five attempts to play the match”
“The weather was shocking and we ended up playing in Scanlon Park on a very very cold day”
“I remember Packie Holden actually scored a goal for us that day. We took them to extra time and Mick Byrne scored two late goals to beat us in extra-time. I hope Thomastown have better luck in getting that game played but it’s a tremendous draw for them, an unbelievable draw”.
