Former Leinster captain Chris Pim says the new pre-season competition for our local clubs is a great opportunity to hit the ground running for the season.
The Colm O’Shea Cup will be run over four weekends from August 21st to the 11th of September.
This Saturday, Tullow will play Seapoint at home, Carlow is away to Ashbourne and Kilkenny travel to Monkstown.
Chris says it’s a great development.
“It’s an incentive for guys to get out early in the season and get a bit of preseason under them and then get into the season with something behind them,” said Chris.
“If you have silverware in your hip pocket by the end of September you’re kind of going well that’s a great start to the season”.
“Guys are all in good form and want to turn up to training and want to be there and want to be a part of the system so I think it’s a great opportunity”.
“The clubs that get behind it, there’s a nice reward for them all there, so I’d be really positive, I think it’s a great development”.
