Former Loreto teacher Julia certainly knows the White way to success

Julia White has helped Kilkenny Camogie prosper as a teacher and mentor at Loreto College in the past but yesterday she left Kilkenny broken hearted as Cork reclaimed the O Duffy Cup by 10 points to 9.

Kilkenny had led late on thanks to a Miriam Walsh point but an inspirational point from the walking wounded Gemma O’Connor brought Cork level before White knocked over the winner 7 minutes into added time.

Julia was part of the management team as Loreto won the All Ireland Senior Schools Camogie title in 2017 with a huge 6-19 to 1-4 win over Ursline of Tipperary and to be fair she has gone through her fair share of pain before knocking over yesterdays winning point.

Illness forced her out of Corks run to the 2012 All Ireland Final in a season where White had captained her county to a League title.

In 2015 she ruptured her achilles tendon and yesterday she stated that she had only played about 15 minutes of competitive action in two years.

Julia has returned to her native Cork to teach this year but would surely have had felt sorry for some of the Kilkenny girls which she has encountered in Kilkenny over the past few years.
