Kilkenny Camogie Leagues

Despite finishing as runners-up in this year’s Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Intermediate Championship, Kilkenny have much to celebrate as four of their players have been named in the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team.

The four Kilkenny players selected are:

  • Cliona Murphy – No. 1 Goalkeeper
  • Mairead Kennedy – No. 5 Half Back
  • Hannah Scott – No. 7 Half Back
  • Danielle Morrissey – No. 8 Midfield

Danielle Morrissey’s contributions have earned her additional recognition as she has been nominated for Intermediate Player of the Year. She will compete for the prestigious title against Cork’s Lauren Homan and Emma Flanagan.

Cork, the winners of this year’s All-Ireland Intermediate Championship, dominate the Soaring Stars lineup with six players honored:

  • Emma Flanagan – No. 2 Corner Back
  • Niamh O’Leary – No. 3 Full Back
  • Aoife Barrett – No. 4 Corner Back
  • Tara McCarthy – No. 9 Midfield
  • Cliona O’Callaghan – No. 10 Half Forward
  • Lauren Homan – No. 11 Centre Forward

Other counties also made their mark, with Laois, the All-Ireland Premier Junior runners-up, awarded two positions:

  • Clodagh Tynan – No. 6 Centre Back
  • Aimee Collier – No. 14 Full Forward

Premier Junior champions Tipperary earned a spot with:

  • Jenny Grace – No. 13 Corner Forward

Intermediate semi-finalists Offaly and Kerry are represented by:

  • Grace Teehan (Offaly) – No. 12 Half Forward
  • Jackie Horgan (Kerry) – No. 15 Corner Forward

Kilkenny’s strong representation in the 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team is a testament to the skill and dedication of their players throughout the season, marking a bright future for the county. As the team reflects on a successful campaign, all eyes will be on Danielle Morrissey as she vies for the coveted Intermediate Player of the Year award.
