Freebooters C and Castlewarren Celtic go head to head in the Ken & Michael Byrne Cup Final tonight.
The sides clash at 7 pm in Derdimus.
Freebooters manager Seanie Doyle says they’ve targeted this cup as they continue to build the side.
“We train well, we try and do the right things, keep them together, they’re a good bunch, they all hang around, they’ve all played together for years, most of them,” said Seanie.
“We just try and keep them grounded and then let them go, the idea was to try and get these lads a year in junior football, and then some of them move up to the A team and some move on to the other premier team we have in the B, but covid came and everything was knocked back so the second division cup was our aim”.
Manager of Castlewarren Celtic and our own Shane O’Keeffe said of the game,
“Freebooters C, are a C team in name only. They can play ball as evident by their successive Leinster success, but so can we. We have been here before, winning one final and losing one, I know which one I prefer and I know which one my team prefers. Its great to get to a final, its even better to win the thing.”
