Freebooters Youths manager Derrick Kenny says they need everyone available if they are to win the FAI Youths Cup.

Booters travel to Waterford to play Villa in the competition on Saturday evening at 5pm, and speaking to KCLR, Derrick says the new start of the season in Schoolboys Soccer is going to have a massive effect on Soccer especially the Country Clubs.

He said “From our first hand experience from last year, for us losing them top three or four players in our side due to the hurling, we couldn’t win an FAI, we needed them to win the FAI, it will kill the country clubs”.

“I have been speaking to the guys from Highview and Callan, and at Under-14 and 15 level there they already committing to hurling, and they don’t know where they stand”.

Derrick also added “You just have to kind of name your squads early, and be prepared that your not going to have the hurlers and that’s what we have done at Under-18 level this year, we have decided to plough on without the hurlers and it gives you a better chance of success if you do that, but it’s going to be very hard for Country clubs”.
