Cheltenham success story Presenting Percy has passed away at the age of ten due to a blood infection.
Owner Phillip Reynolds confirmed the news last night online while also stating Percy was ‘a horse of a lifetime’. Presenting Percy won 2017 Pertemps Final at Cheltenham with a fantastic display and then went onto win RSA Chase in 2018.
Gowran Park race manager Eddie Scally spoke highly of the horse who won the Galmoy Hurdle twice at the Kilkenny track on Thyestes Day. Speaking with Scoreline.ie Scally said
“Presenting Percy was a real darling of Irish racing, one of the most popular horses in training. Out here in Gowran Park we were so lucky to see Presenting Percy running with us three times. He was a horse that really captured the imagination of the public. On his l;ast run in Gowran Park, it was one of the most unbelievable scenes we have seen for years. We the crowd surrounding the parade ring before the race to clap him out onto the track. Presenting Percy as always didnt let the fans down he romped home that day to rapturous applause on his way back in”

“I would have to say the most memorable days with Percy were at Gowran Park” said owner Reynolds, who described himself as heartbroken. Percy’s last winner came in Tipperary in November while his last race coming in December. Ultimately a leg infection lead to a blood issue, with the horse battling for three months before finally succumbing to the issue.
