Carlow Senior Hurling Manager Colm Bonnar says Galway will every bit as formidable an outfit even without the injured Joe Canning.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of their Championship opener in Salthill on Sunday week 12th May, Colm says that the Tribesmen have plenty of top quality top performers to compensate for his absence.

He said “Galway, they are not a one man team either and they have some fantastic players. Daithi Burke is probably one of the best Full-Backs around and the likes of (Gearoid) McInerney and the Mannion brothers and Conor Cooney, Jonathan Glynn, Conor Whelan, the list is endless”.

“Jason Flynn, Johnny Coen, they are all smashing hurlers and you can’t take your eye off the ball, even though Joe would have been playing in one position and whoever was marking him was going to have a hell of a game, but it doesn’t make it any easier for 14 other players that would be playing against Galway who are marking a top Galway player the fact that Joe Canning isn’t playing so we are going to be pushed to our limits in all positions and that’s what we are training for, we want that, and we want to see can we live with that”.
