Garry Kehoe says that Marble City Boxing Club is there to serve the community, particularly during this challenging time.
Kehoe was delighted with the effort put in by everybody to do the 10k run for Mental Health Ireland.
“As a club, we said that we are here for the good of the community and the communities mental health. That’s what are club is about.”
The club were incredibly successful in their efforts to raise money and awareness for the charity, with over €1000 raised in a little over a week.
“We’re delighted with the response we got. We managed to make over €1000 in just over a week for Mental Health Ireland.”
He also spoke about the disappointment for the club that the 2020 season never got started.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t get the boxing season going at all. All of the championships were cancelled. However, we kept everyone active in a safe and Covid compliant way.”
The Marble City Boxing club man also spoke about the club’s very successful year in 2019. They won five gold medals from the Wexford International Boxing Cup, along with four silvers.
“In 2019 we were the best club in Leinster and one of the top two or three clubs in Ireland so that’s a great platform to build off heading into 2021.”
