Two Kilkenny players in Europa League action last night
Mikey Drennan travelled to Sweden with his side St. Patricks Athletic last night to compete in a Europa League qualifying game. ST. Pats were unable to overturn a 2 goal deficit as they crashed out eventually on a aggregate score of 4-1.
Alot of fans travelled to support the squad however they were unable to initially spur them on as Norkopping scored a goal in the first half. The swedish side, who currently occupy 7th place in the swedish league, were three goals ahead, with two of them being away goals.
A wonderful strike by former Chelsea youth Conor Clifford (below) sparked a late comeback attempt, however it was not to be as their attacking efforts left them vulnerable at the back, and St.Pats conceded once again
Speaking after the game Mikey said
“I thought 2nd half we had alot of chance’s but at the end of the day their keeper made a few good saves, and they are a good team they are a good team. They probably deserved to go through.
Kilkenny defender Gary Breen was also in Scandnavia with Cliftonville. They lost 5-1 to Norweigian team Haugesund FC
