This Sunday brings a fresh face-off to the St. Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling Final, as defending champions O’Loughlin Gaels meet Thomastown for the first time ever in a senior decider.
Ahead of the final, KCLR caught up with Martin Walsh, a former Thomastown star who played in that ‘83 Intermediate showdown.
Walsh shared his advice for the current Thomastown team: “Go out and enjoy the day. They know themselves what they have to do. Give it everything. Don’t have any regrets coming back in… If it’s good enough, it’s good enough.”
Walsh reflected on the excitement the upcoming final has generated, saying, “It’s been the talk of the town the last two weeks… Everyone’s really looking forward to the game because it’s novel , a southern team not the Shamrock’s in the county final against a good old-fashioned city team that’s been there for years.”
Tune in tonight at 8 pm on KCLR for a special county final preview, brought to you by Gerry Comerford Drilling Ltd., where we’ll hear more insights from Martin Walsh and O’Loughlin Gaels manager Brian Hogan. Then, catch live coverage of the final on Sunday, with thanks to Eugene Foley Construction.
