As preparations ramp up for Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior camogie championship final against Cork on Sunday week, so too do the team’s fundraising efforts.
We’ll be helping the team along on Thursday next with the Hurls & Curls All-Ireland Camogie Quiz, coming to a venue near you with cash prizes also up for grabs, but there’s also a way to help out online.
With the senior team contesting the All-Ireland final for the eighth time in ten years, it’s all hands to pump on the fundraising front to cover match weekend costs with the county camogie board launching a Gofundme campaign this week with the aim of raising €5,000.
“We need the whole county to get behind our wonderful players and management. Like our hurlers, the players put in endless hours of training and conditioning to reach this level of success. If you would like to show your support but are unable to attend any other fundraisers, please use this page to make your contribution. All contributions are very gratefully received and will be put towards giving all involved a post-match reception to remember.”
Businesses who would like to contribute outside of online fundraising are encouraged to contact Kilkenny Camogie to discuss promotion options.
The Cats head to Croke Park on Sunday 7 August to meet Cork in the final for the first time since 2018. Having beaten Cork to win the final in 2016, the Rebels claimed back-to-back final wins against Kilkenny in 2017 and 2018 before Galway beat Kilkenny in 2019. Kilkenny beat Galway in the 2020 decider before falling to Cork at the semi-final stages in the 2021 championship.
