Kilkenny & District League Oscar Traynor joint manager Jim Cashin says a stern half-time discussion paved the way for an inspired second half performance as they defeated Galway 2-1 in yesterday’s Oscar Traynor All-Ireland Semi-Final.
Speaking to KCLR, Jim the leaders within the group stood up when it was needed at half-time.
He said “The first-half didn’t go well for us. We started off fairly well. First 10-15 minutes, we were on the front foot, had a couple of half-chances and I thought at that stage that we were maybe going to dominate the game ,but it didn’t work that way, and they came into it well, and we went 1-0 down at half-time and we weren’t happy”.
“We hadn’t played well in the first-half, but in fairness in the dressing at half-time, anything that was needed to be said was said, we have some real leaders in that dressing room and we let the leaders take the lead, and we spoke about what he hadn’t done right in the first-half, we tweaked the formation a little bit, we went out in the second half, we were excellent in the second half and I think we thoroughly deserved our win”.
