A number athletes from Kilkenny City Harriers were among the winners at the Autumn Open International Cross Country Festival over the weekend (Sunday) at the National Sports Campus in Dublin.
Cathal O’Reilly put in an impressive performance to claim third in the Junior Men 6,000m event in a time of 18:32 and is being marked as ‘one to watch’ over the cross country season. Meanwhile, Brian Maher’s experience shone through again to take the Master Men in 23:56, joined on the podium by Jamie Gahan with a third-place finish in a time of 24:06, behind Leevale AC’s John Shine by one second.
Darragh McElhinney (UCD AC) and Abbie Donnelly (Loughborough) both retained their respective senior titles, Donnelly’s teammates Grace Carson and Alex Millard helping the club to a 1-2-3 finish.
