Jessica Harrington was very impressed with Our Duke’s performance in battling to win Saturday’s Red Mills Chase in Gowran Park.
Speaking after the race, Jessica says the trip and ground on Saturday were far from suitable, and it’s all systems go for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
“He only started really jumping well because the gun was to the head over the last three.
“He (Robbie Power) says he is going to lose his concentration and he was much sharper today.
“He probably wouldn’t have liked that ground really, because like that’s horrible ground and I suppose that is good enough giving Presenting Percy 7 pounds.
“I don’t know how far he won by in the end and for a horse that’s not really a two and a half mile horse, I think it was good, he goes in the Gold Cup anyway, that’s it,” she said.
