TJ Reid becomes the GAA’s all time Championship scorer after victory at the weekend’s victory over Clare
TJ Reid can be classed as probably the greatest hurler to wear the black and amber stripes as he became the all-time hurling championship scorer at the weekend with victory over Clare in the All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final in Croke Park. He took his career tally to 30-544 (634 points) scoring twelve points against the banner.
Reid has been fighting it out with Cork’s Patrick Horgan for the top spot. Horgan had ammassed (24-555) but Reid took that honour as he prepares to possibly add to his tally in a rematch with Limerick in this years All-Ireland hurling final.
Thomas Joseph Reid made his full debut for Kilkenny back in 2008 when he lined out against the Dubs in the national hurling league. He has since secured 12 Leinster titles, 7 All-Ireland medals, 5 National laeague medals and 6 All-Stars. He will line put against Limerick in his 12th All-Ireland Final, he was captain back in 2010.
There will be motivation there after the hurt of losing last years final to the treaty men, but the Ballyhale sharpshooter will be up for the challenge.
