Basketball fans are in for a treat locally at the end of the month.
SETU Carlow will host a three-game series between Ireland’s men’s under 18s and Luxembourg from 30 June through 2 July. All three games will take place in SETU’s Barrow Centre at their Kilkenny Road road campus.
- Game 1: Friday 30 June, 3.30pm
- Game 2: Saturday 1 July, 3.30pm
- Game 3: Sunday 2 July, 11am
Old Leighlin’s Jack Kehoe is expected to feature, with the series providing an ideal opportunity for fans in Carlow and Kilkenny to see the work being put in at men’s U18 level, but also a chance for Ireland to warm up in advance of this year’s European championship.
Paul Kelleher’s side have been drawn in Division ‘B’ of this summer’s FIBA U18 Men’s European Championship and will make for Portugal in late July.
There, they’ll take on Romania, Estonia, Ukraine, Kosovo and Netherlands between Friday 21 July and Wednesday 26 July at Matosinhos.
Door entry will be €5 per person, a series pass is €12 or a family series pass can be bought for €25 (2 adults and 2 children). The games will also be broadcast online via basketballireland.tv.
