The Irish 4×400 metres mixed relay team, of which Kilkenny’s Cliodhna Manning is a team member has qualified for tomorrow’s (Saturday) final at the Olympics.
Sophie Becker, Phil Healy, Cillian Greene, and Christopher O’Donnell ran 3:12:88 to advance from their semi.
The USA was disqualified, moving Ireland into an automatic qualifying position.
It shaved four seconds off the previous Irish national record.
It’s the first-ever running of the mixed 4x400m relay at the Olympics.
