Carlow golf pro Harry Ewing says the Irish players will be under huge pressure at the Irish Open which takes place in Mount Juliet in a few week’s time.

The centerpiece of Irish golf takes place at the Kilkenny course from the 1st to the 4th of July.

Tickets sold out recently for the event which will feature Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, and Shane Lowry.

Shane Lowry has been in great form lately and would be hotly tipped, but Harry says Padraig Harrington is one to watch.

“You’d have to say Lowry, Harrington equally, he finished fourth in the PGA but in general for the 49-year-old, he’s actually going to play Shane in his 26th Irish open, in fairness to him it’s some achievement to play in 26 of them,” said Harry.

“He doesn’t like to miss one, in fairness he’s a huge supporter of Irish golf, as they all are, and I think if the weather stays fair in a few weeks time down in Mount Juliet, it will be a fantastic spectacle and great to see that there could be as many as 5000 fans permitted per day”.
