Irish Rallycross Championship

The 2018 Parts for Cars Irish Rallycross Championship continues at Mondello Park this weekend, Saturday April 21st and Sunday April 22nd.

This is its biggest event for many years as it partners with the Irish Drift Championship for SHOWDOWN, a two day event packed with action from two of Ireland’s most popular motorsports.

Round two of the championship will see the drivers tackle a new circuit layout which offers some totally new challenges. The new track will run anti-clockwise from its start line in front of the Grandstand and take in some all new sections of track.

The exit of the first turn, Southside Corner, will take drivers either right, onto the loose, or straight ahead on to the tarmac ‘Joker Lap’ section, which must be taken once per race, and down to Paddock Bend. From turn two they will head across the loose surface and then brake hard to turn sharp left onto the tarmac before they reach the hole in the hedge. The tight final section will see them go sharp right and through the tunnel at the back of the paddock before emerging onto the loose in front of the Grandstand, at what is usually turn one, to start another lap.

The timetable too will change this weekend as the event will be spread over two days. Saturday’s action will be made up of practice and heats 1 and 2, interspersed between the IDC Semi Pro action. On Sunday the Rallycrossers will share the timetable with the IDC Pro’s, as they complete heat 3 and the finals

Tickets for SHOWDOWN can be purchased on-line from the Mondello Park web site with Saturday, Sunday, weekend and family options all available.
