Angel Di Maria – Real Madrid to Manchester United – £59.7 million

Sticking with Manchester United and like Sanchez, a player who wore the number 7 shirt. The era after Sir Alex Ferguson has not been kind to the Red Devils both on and off the pitch. Transfer struggles have been evident ever since the last minute signing of Marroune Fellani from Everton back in 2013. After being touted to sign Cesc Fabergas and Tony Kross, United supporters were left pulling their hair out at the inefficency.

United seemed to be getting their act together though by the time Louis Van Gaal arrived. Players like Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, and Ander Herrera were added to the side, however the big talking points were the arrivals of Ramadel Falcao and Angel Di Maria.

Falcao was just a loan, however United spent big money to bring in Di Maria, a British record at the time. They had good cause to pay that amount after helping Real Madrid clinch their 10th champions League, with a man of the match performance.

Di Maria seemed to hit the ground running while , however his form fell off a cliff. Reportedly unable to settle after his house was burgled Di Maria soon became a fringe character at United scoring just three goals. Many pundits agreed he was the worst signing of the season. Di Maria was then sold at a lost to PSG after just one year were his form drastically improved,s coring 44 goals in 147 appearances
