IT Carlow Basketball 57-103 WIT Waterford Wildcats
In the MissQuote.ie Super League, WIT Waterford Wildcats joined The Address UCC Glanmire at the top of the table following a comfortable win over IT Carlow Basketball on Sunday.
IT Carlow is still looking for their first elusive win in the competition.
A scoring masterclass came from Rachel Thompson for Wildcats, as she scored a massive 45 points. Helena Rowan (18) and Elizabeth Connolly (17) also made a big impact for the Waterford side.
Lauren LaPlant endeavored to keep IT Carlow in the running, scoring 22 points, as did Alyssa Velles (11).
Tommy O’Mahony, head coach for WIT Waterford Wildcats, paid compliment to the individual performances that secured their win.
“Happy with the win today. Carlow is never an easy place to go and play. We had a sluggish first quarter. We managed to up the tempo in the second quarter and keep it high for the game. We had a few big individual performances but overall, it was a great team effort. Now we move on and get ready for a tough game in Castleisland next week”, said O’Mahony.
Marble City Hawks 66-79 Tipperary Knights
In the MissQuote.ie Division 1, Tipperary Knights got back to winning ways at the weekend, getting the better of Marble City Hawks at O’Loughlin’s GAA Club on Saturday evening.
The game was a tight affair, but Tipperary Knights got their fifth win of the season with the 79-66 result.
Emma Casey (21), Méabh Humphreys (20) & Rosie Tobin (16) were the main threats to the basket for Tipperary Knights, while top scorer Áine Sheehy’s 22-point tally wasn’t enough for Marble City Hawks, on top of the contributions of Elaine Kennington (20) & Ann Prendergast (10).
Marble City Hawks 46-55 Griffith College Templeogue
In the final game of the round, Griffith College Templeogue got the better of Marble City Hawks, seeing them off 55-46 when they visited the Kilkenny side.
A relatively low-scoring affair, the top scorer for the game was Marble City Hawks’ Elaine Kennington, while Lynn Tunnah (12) was the top scorer for Griffith College Templeogue.
IT Carlow Basketball 99-92 Limerick Sport Eagles
In the InsureMyVan.ie Division 1, IT Carlow Basketball saw off the challenge of Limerick Sport Eagles to keep up their winning form, beating them 99-92.
Ben Kelly Flynn led the charge for IT Carlow, slotting 27 points, however, Nate Shafer was hot on his heels with 26.
Manny Payton starred for Limerick Sport Eagles, scoring 22 points for his team, while Reece Barry made 19 points of his own.
