IT Carlow football manager Pat Critchley says squad are in a good place ahead of Sigerson final

IT Carlow Sigerson Finalist Team 2020

IT Carlow Gaelic Football Manager Pat Critchley says the squad has responded superbly since last years defeat to UCC in the Sigerson Cup which has rewarded them with a place in tonight’s showdown away to DCU.

The Carlow College have defeated IT Tralee, UCC and Letterkenny IT on their way to tonight’s Final and speaking to KCLR, Pat says the squad are in a very good place ahead of tonight’s final.

He told KCLR “We always knew we had a very strong group of players together and the key to us is that we work together as a team and as a unit, work hard for each other all the time and it would have been easy enough after the UCC game last year to doubt what we were doing, but we just tweaked it a little bit this year and powered on, the guys have responded really really and we are in a good place at the moment”

Pat also went on to say that preparations have been in no way affected if they lose players to Inter-County commitments.

He says they have to get on with the business at hand.

“I said that to the lads in a club situation county situation that certain lads aren’t there, they mightn’t be eligible for selection, but it’s not the lads fault if they are not released so they are trying to break into a County set-up”.

“They are young players, that’s their ambition, they never made a big deal about it, if one of the lads said I can’t be there Tuesday night, we just say we will see you the following week and we just got on with it like and that’s the hand we are dealt with”.
