Katie Taylor’s return to the ring has been confirmed – it won’t be at Croke Park.

The former Olympic champion will put her undisputed lightweight title on the line at Wembley Arena on October 29th.

Taylor will face the unbeaten Argentine, Karen Elizabeth Carabajal.

There has not been a fight at the legendary stadium since July 19, 1972. Here the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali took on Al “Blue” Lewis, his long-term sparring partner. Ali bested Lewis in the end after 11 thrilling rounds.

As is commonplace in his career Muhammed Ali captured the imagination of the Irish public. However, on his travels, Ali came up against a man of comparable greatest within the GAA world, six-time All-Ireland winner Eddie Keher. the former Kilkenny captain was tasked with being the one to show The peoples Champ how to hurl.

The visit is documented in the fantastic IFTA-winning documentary “When Ali Came to Ireland“.

“He was using the hurley like a tennis racket,” Keher recalled, “He spent ages trying to rise the ball and that. We had good fun.”

You can listen to our full sit-down discussion with Eddie Keher, where he details his meaning with the legend, on our GAA-dedicated podcast “The Clash Act” below:
