Speaking to scoreline, captain Paul Murphy says the county title and run is having a big knock-on effect on their underage setup;

“We are so happy down here, we are such a small club, and it is just absolutely brilliant for such a small club. Especially for our underage juvenile players, to see us go on and win the junior championship, it gives them great hope for the future.”

“We have very limited numbers here, so it is just unbelievable.”

Knowing Nowlan

Blacks and Whites’ last fixture, of course, was the extra-time victory over Ringtown in Westmeath. This time however Eddie Scally’s men won’t have to travel as far, as Commericlas will be welcomed to Kilkenny county grounds in UPMC Nowlan Park. Murphy and his clubmen have plenty of experience there on the pitch this year, which the captain believes will stand to them;

“It has to be an advantage. This will be our fourth game in Nowlan Park now this year and look we’re familiar with the surroundings. In there, we can set up our morning prep and get into Nowlan Park an hour before the game. We’re used to preparing ourselves for a game in Nowlan Park so look, it has to be an advantage for the home team.”

“We have a target on our back. Any Kilkenny team always has a target on their back. These lads are coming down to beat us. We’re just going to have to bring that intensity into Nowlan Park and hopefully come out the right side of it. “
