Ballyhale Shamrocks’ Evan Shefflin says their main focus is on delivering a strong performance in their final league game against O’Loughlin Gaels this Saturday, as they prepare for the upcoming relegation semi-final against James Stephens.
Speaking at the launch of the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Championship, Shefflin acknowledged the importance of gaining confidence but emphasized that the result won’t change their fate.
“It’s about performance. A win would be fantastic, absolutely. I think it would do us the world of good in terms of confidence. But it’s not going to change who we’re playing and what we’re playing in,” Shefflin told KCLR.
Ballyhale Shamrocks have struggled to hit top form this season, and Shefflin sees Saturday’s game as an opportunity to build momentum for their relegation clash. “We haven’t really kicked on and started as well as we would have wanted,” he admitted. “So it’s more about the performance this weekend, driving on from there, and using it as a stepping stone to James Stephens.”
With the relegation semi-final looming, Shamrocks will be aiming to finish their league campaign on a positive note and set the stage for a crucial match the following weekend.
