It’s coming home, coming home, the greatest game’s the world has ever known.

So says the opening line of It’s Coming Home, an ode to Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior hurling championship final showdown against reigning champions Limerick in Croke Park this Sunday.

Based on Coming Home by Skyler Grey, the song was originally released in June for Katie Taylor’s homecoming bout at the 3Arena but has since been reworked ahead of this weekend’s hurling centrepiece. It’s already been recorded for performance on Saturday’s Up For The Match on RTÉ and you’ll be able to hear it performed live at our All-Ireland Preview Show this Friday night at Matt The Millers in Kilkenny city. That event runs from 8-10pm, is free to attend and open to the public. See more here.

“We were incredibly lucky to get the opportunity to compose and produce the instrumental piece for such a momentous event as Katie’s homecoming”, says Eanna O Casaide, Burnchurch member and producer of the track.

“The project came to us just 48 hours before the event and we worked incredibly hard on the piece, composing and producing it in our studio at home. I believe this track really captures our distinct style and demonstrates a fresh take on Irish music.”

The band, all family, were speaking on KCLR in recent days to fill us in on the background of the track and their involvement in All-Ireland preparations. You can listen to that below.
