It has by all accounts been a great season at the juvenile level for Gowran Pitch and Putt Club.
The club was represented by Jack McShane and Michael Holland throughout the juvenile calendar.
In late June both players traveled to the Custume pitch and putt course in Athlone for the Leinster U16 Matchplay. Michael and Jack were on opposite sides of the draw, but ultimately make it through to face each other in the final. No doubt a great result for the club to have an all-Gowran Leinster final with Jack claiming the win to be crowned the Leinster U16 Matchplay champion for 2022.
From here, both players took part in National U16 Matchplay at Ryston course in Co Kildare. This time they met each other in the quarter-final with Michael taking the win and moving on to the semifinal where he would eventually lose out to the eventual winner Joe Franklin from Tipperary.
Next up was Leinster Strokeplay Championships with Jack competing at the U13 level and Michael at the U16 level. Both would finish with prizes at the Seapoint course in Co Louth with Jack winning the U13 Strokeplay and Michael taking the bronze medal in the U16 section.
Deerpark course in Killarney was the venue last weekend for the National Juvenile Strokeplay Championships with Jack the sole Gowran representative on this occasion. Jack would claim the U13 section just ahead of the National Matchplay winner Joe Franklin from Tipperary to cap off a remarkable season at the juvenile level.
Speaking with members at the Gowran Club it apparent is so proud of what the boys achieved and how they represented the club throughout the Summer.
Best wishes to both for next season as both will be competing again at the U16 level from all of us here at Scoreline.
