Kilkenny’s Myles Price is ready to make his mark in the US.
Head coach at Team Ryano Kilkenny, Price (11-7 MMA) is stepping into the Professional Fighters League’s SmartCage this Friday to face former UFC lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis (24-12).
It’s a Stateside debut, set for Arlington TX this Friday night (or very early Saturday morning if you’re on Irish time).
While he’s spent the majority of his training camp at the UFD Gym in Dusseldorf, Germany, along with some time in Team Ryano HQ in Dublin, Price has said it’s the support at local level that’s hard to put into words.
“I just really appreciate all the support”, said Price in speaking to Scoreline and gathered journalists on Wednesday evening.
“It’s really hard to put into words, the gratitude of the support from friends, family and loved ones plus coaches from my gym.”
That gym is Team Ryano Kilkenny where Price has been based in the Hebron Business Park since 2017.
“I wouldn’t be able to do this, to lead from the front per se, unless they were there supporting me and looking after all the juniors, teenagers, adults, beginners and all that. I’m just so grateful for all the support.”
“It means the world to me. It’s hard to put into words to be honest with you.”
Fighter support
While it’s great to get the support from home soil, Price says one of the defining differences between PFL and his time at Bellator is the support shown to athletes on the roster, particularly for fight week.
“There’s always somebody there to look after you, there’s always somebody there touching base with you to let you know how everything is going during the week, what your schedule is.”
You’ll be able to watch PFL 3 from the 2022 regular season on Channel 4 this Saturday at 2am.
