Limerick Greyhound Stadium PRO was optimistic about the prospect of a Kilkenny victory tonight when he spoke to KCLR’s Saturday Scoreline earlier today.
With the Open 600 final taking place in Shelbourne tonight, and the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial moving into the semi-finals stage later this evening, Sheahan was complimentary of the hard work that has been undertaken across the country to allow these events to go ahead in the midst of a global pandemic.
“Greyhound racing is thriving all around Ireland with races in Limerick, Shelbourne, Clonmel and Kilkenny. It’s a testament to greyhound people across the country and it’s great to see it do so well at a difficult time for a lot of people,” said Sheahan.
The Taking Dogs TV commentator tipped a Kilkenny ace to take the crown at Shelbourne Park tonight.
“In the final of the Open 600, ‘Beach Avenue’ will be running in trap 6 for Paul Hennessy, a fantastic trainer from Gowran.
“He’s the third fastest dog in the history of Shelbourne so he might be a good shout tonight.
“‘Billy’s Diva’ for the Kennedy’s from Urlingford is in trap 2 tonight and he will have a good chance also.”
He does not envisage a similar level of success in Limerick for Kilkenny trainers tonight.
He said: “I don’t fancy ‘Luminous Light’, trained by the Lennon’s of Freshford in Limerick tonight. He’s a good dog and he’s progressed well throughout the last few weeks.I think this might be one too many for him though”
