Ahead of this weekend’s KCLR McCalmont Cup Final, we speak to Evergreen midfielder Jamie Owens to get his take on facing Thomastown in a second cup competition, one week on from dumping them out of this year’s Leinster Junior Cup Semi-Final. When the sides meets on Saturday evening, this time the play moves to Derdimus as a neutral venue, Evergreen having had the home advantage last weekend in their 2-0 victory over Thomastown.
“It’s going to be tough, like it always is against Thomastown. In fairness to them they’ve come on an awful lot in the last couple of years, their managers and all are very good, they’ve a great squad and it’s always a tough game when we play them.
They always come at us hell-for-leather, they’re a very good team. Winning (on Sunday) gives us a very good boost but hopefully we’ll be ready for whatever they throw at us.”
