David Buggy Motors and KCLR Kilkenny Sport Star Awards

This month’s winner of the award is Cathal O’Reilly from the Kilkenny City Harriers.

To begin, Cathal had a fantastic year in 2021 and was busy at a lot of events.

He kicked off the season with success at the U19 steeplechase in July where he set a new CBP, he was also second in the 1,500m and second in the 3k.

A few weeks later then he won the National U18 3k race setting a new CBP and came second in the 2nd in the SC and third in the 1,500m.

In November he was 9th in the Junior Open Cross Country and 6th in the National Junior Cross country which earned him his selection on the Irish Junior Team to compete in European Cross Country in Abbottstown Dublin.

And to cap it off in December, Cathal finished 77th in the European’s in Dublin and was a member of the Irish team that finished second.

Cathal did all this while studying for his leaving cert and is now studying at DCU.
