Kilkenny College past pupils have been making the news this weekend on the sports fields.

At Thomand Park in the Connacht v Munster game, three past pupils will start for their respective teams.

Robin Copleland will start at 8 for Munster while Craig Ronaldson and Shane Delahunt will line out at 12 and 2 respectively for the Connacht.

Peter Lydon plays for London Scottish against an in-form Bristol side in the English Rugby Championship tonight while news also came through to the College that Foster Horan has been selected for the Irish Rugby 7’s side that will go to Dubai early in the new year. They’ll be captained by Carlow’s Tom Daly.

It was also announced today that two former Irish U18 hockey girls Clodagh Cassin and Emma Duncan have been selected in the Leinster U21 side. The two Kilkenny ladies will feature in an interpro series that starts this weekend.

On rugby matters, Jamie Heaslip was a visitor to the Kilkenny school earlier in the week.

The Ireland and Leinster man was in Kilkenny to run a training session with the school having raised over €1,000 recently for the Umbrella Foundtaion of which he is a patron. Through fundraising efforts, the students involved in the annual Umbrella 7s tournament raised an impressive €1,467.
