Kilkenny 1-21
Limerick 0-06
It was a familiar tale for Kilkenny on Saturday afternoon as they proved far too strong for Limerick at a sweltering UPMC Nowlan Park.
Katie Power, Mary O’Connell, Laura Murphy and a cluster of points from Denise Gaule gave Kilkenny a healthy lead early on as loose marking from Limerick proved costly for the visiting side.
Gaule, Power and Miriam Bambrick proceeded to move Kilkenny further ahead midway through the first half as they eased into a 0-09 to 0-01 lead.
A goal from Aoife Doyle on the stroke of half-time gave Kilkenny an unassailable lead at the break, Kilkenny 1-11 to 0-01 Limerick.
The second half started as the first half had concluded with Kilkenny dominating on the scoreboard once more thanks to points from Katie Nolan, Julieann Malone and Miriam Walsh moved Kilkenny even further ahead as a flat second half remained a largely one sided game.
Four Caoimhe Costello points helped to stem the tide for Limerick but Steffi Fitzgerald and Denise Gaule continued to add to the Kilkenny tally as they ran out comfortable 1-21 to 0-06 victors.
Next up for Kilkenny is an away trip once again when they will take on Antrim on June 11th.
