Bective Rangers 20

Kilkenny suffered an agonising defeat to Bective Rangers in the Leinster J1 League on Saturday afternoon as a tough season for the home side continued.

Two Hugh Corkery penalties were the perfect response to an early unconverted try from the away side.

Kilkenny took control of the game before half-time when Roy Stanley crossed for their first try of the game and a Corkery conversion left two-scores between the sides at the interval, Kilkenny 13 – 5 Bective Rangers.

The Dublin outfit took control of the game after the break with a penalty try to leave a single point between the sides once more.

Despite another Corkery penalty, a try followed by a late penalty wrapped up the win for the travelling team who withstood late pressure from a spirited Kilkenny side.
