The winner of the KCLR & David Buggy Motor Kilkenny Club of the Year has been revealed.

After a week of campaigning and voting, Kilkenny Rugby Club are 2020’s Club of the Year.

Also in the running for this year were Ballyhale Shamrocks, Carlow Kilkenny FC, Conahy GAA & Camogie Club, Freebooters AFC, Kilkenny Senior Camogie, Lisdowney GAA, Marble City Boxing Club, and Thomastown Camogie.

A big year

Kilkenny maintained their Division 1A status in men’s rugby earlier this year while also claiming the J1 and J2 South East League trophies, a first since 2007.

“We’ve had a good year. The big objective was to maintain our status in the men’s division 1A and we did that with a few games to spare”, said club PRO James Blanchfield in speaking to Scoreline on Saturday.

“Our under 18 boys had a fantastic league last season under Mick McGrath reaching the league final.”

“The success is seeing those young guys go to senior rugby. From the under 18 squad we have seven or eight boys who made it through to senior rugby this year with the club. That’s the big success that keeps the club competing at a high level.”

From all at David Buggy Motors and KCLR, congratulations to Kilkenny Rugby Club and continued success to all nominated clubs this year.
